Florida’s Gulf Islands Marketing Efforts Earn Gold in
International Adrian Awards Competition


BRADENTON, Fla. (November 27, 2007) – Florida’s Gulf Islands’ brand marketing efforts will be honored with two Gold Adrian Awards from the Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International (HSMAI) at a black tie gala in New York City, January 28, 2008. Including Anna Maria Island, Longboat Key, and the mainland areas of Bradenton and Lakewood Ranch, Florida’s Gulf Islands are marketed to visitors around the world by the Bradenton Area Convention & Visitors Bureau (BACVB). Florida’s Gulf Islands received Gold Adrian Awards for the destination’s Brand Positioning Campaign and 2007 Visitors Guide, and a Bronze award for its Media Kit.

“We’ve been very happy with the results of our new branding campaign, and are excited to receive such prestigious industry recognition," said Susan Estler, BACVB Marketing and Public Relations Director. “We expect our campaign to continue driving consumer awareness that will lead to increased visitation and room nights in Florida’s Gulf Islands."

With nearly 1,300 entries from more than 35 countries being judged by approximately 200 industry and travel experts, the Adrian Awards are the most decisive travel marketing event of the year. Winning entries were selected based on marketing objectives, creative, quality, content and results. Florida’s Gulf Islands Gold Award-winning entries make the destination eligible to receive the prestigious Platinum Award, which will be revealed on stage at the Marriot Marquis in Times Square.

The winning entries are the work of Insight Advertising based in Fort Myers, Fla. The agency specializes in destination brand marketing, and has represented Florida’s Gulf Islands since August 2006. Insight has now received 25 Adrian Awards, including five Gold Awards since 2001. Accepting the 2007 awards will be Susan Estler, Paul Rodino, Insight’s Art Director, and agency owners, Kimberly Powers and Marianne Cushing.

The Bradenton Area Convention & Visitors Bureau promotes tourism to Anna Maria Island, Longboat Key, Bradenton and Lakewood Ranch through domestic and international advertising, public relations and marketing efforts.
