BRADENTON, Fla. (September 13, 2006) -
On August 21, the Manatee County Tourist Development Council, at the recommendation of Larry White, executive director, Bradenton Area Convention & Visitors Bureau, approved the addition of Lakewood Ranch to the area's tourism enterprise. The Bradenton Area Convention & Visitors Bureau, (BACVB), referred to as Florida's Gulf Islands, will now incoroporate Lakewood Ranch into all marketing materials from their logo and web site to all advertising, public relations, and promotional efforts.
BACVB staff boasts more than 50 years of collective industry experience. The Bureau is one of more than 3,500 tourism industry Partners of VISIT FLORIDA® the state's official source for travel planning, and enlists the added expertise of three public relations firms, an advertising agency, and a market research firm to promote the destination to domestic and international visitors. BACVB attends 17 consumer and travel industry trade shows, three sports conferences, five group tour shows, 13 international travel shows, and six media shows or missions throughout the year. The group allocates over $900k to consumer and travel magazines newspapers, meeting publications,and VISIT FLORIDA travel guides, international and electronic media. As a result, nearly 2 million visitors trave to Manatee County annually, generating more than 1.7 million in economic impact.

Lakewood Ranch, a 7,000-acre master-planned community, combines dramatic landscapes, world-class recreational facilities, fine dining and numerous shopping venues. The award winning Holiday Inn Lakewood Ranch and Fairfield Inn & Suites Sarasota Lakewood Ranch provide more than 200 additional sleeping rooms collectively. Cinemas, boutiques and fine dining will entereain visitors along the tree-lined promenade, Mainstreet at Lakewood Ranch. Avid sports fans will marvel at the Sarasota Polo Club, Legacy Golf Club, and the Sarasota International Cricket Club.
